Introducing Villa Nordisk:

A Luxurious Gateway to Nature's Splendor at the Foot of Mount Fuj

Fumotoppara, Japan - In a groundbreaking collaboration, Nordisk Japan and Fumotoppara Co., Ltd. are proud to announce the opening of Villa Nordisk, an extraordinary unmanned showroom and experience center nestled in the breathtaking landscapes near Mount Fuji. This unique facility offers an overnight stay experience that immerses visitors in the natural wonders of the region.

With a rich history spanning over a century, Nordisk has been a pioneer in blending nature and luxury. Embracing the belief that time spent in the great outdoors enhances one's quality of life, Nordisk offers a diverse range of gear designed for various outdoor scenarios, with a particular emphasis on tents and tarps. Renowned for their exquisitely textured cotton tents, the brand has even sparked a recent surge in glamping popularity among discerning campers.

Notably, Nordisk has trademarked the Danish word "Hygge," representing a way of living that encompasses relaxation, comfort, and a deep sense of happiness derived from a rich and fulfilling experience. The company has been instrumental in spreading this concept across Japan, becoming a leading force in the Hygge movement.

Villa Nordisk, situated within the picturesque Fumotoppara site, offers a captivating glimpse into the world of Nordisk. Inside the facility, guests will find an impressive display of Nordisk tents, inviting them to build their own personal haven within the scenic surroundings. The building boasts essential amenities such as showers, toilets, and bedrooms, along with a welcoming living space where visitors can engage digitally with Nordisk staff across the Globe. Additionally, the spacious exterior accommodates tent pitching, ensuring a relaxed camping experience that evokes a sense of exclusivity.

The architectural marvel of Villa Nordisk was brought to life by the esteemed Danish firm THIRD NATURE, which also led the design of Nordisk Hygge Circles UGAKEI in Inabe City. Drawing inspiration from Nordisk's renowned tarp, known as the "Kari," the building concept embodies a harmonious fusion of Japanese and Scandinavian design philosophies. The "Tarp House" concept is an invitation to savor hygge, fostering interpersonal connections amidst the serenity of nature.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Villa Nordisk is its revolutionary approach to guest services. Entirely unstaffed, the facility harnesses cutting-edge information technology, including smart locks, to facilitate a seamless experience. From check-in to check-out, guests can navigate their stay without the need for direct contact with staff or other visitors. For any inquiries, guests can consult Nordisk Japan or Danish staff via the in-room television, receiving immediate assistance.

Although camping may conjure images of simplicity, Villa Nordisk exemplifies the intersection of tradition and innovation. By integrating state-of-the-art technology, the facility reshapes the camping landscape, presenting a vision of the future that remains grounded in nature's embrace.

In line with its commitment to sustainable practices, Villa Nordisk holds the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a paramount focus. Denmark, ranking third globally in the Sustainable Development Report 2021, demonstrates remarkable dedication to SDGs at both national and individual levels. Villa Nordisk aligns with these ideals by promoting healthy lifestyles and well-being (SDG 3), utilizing low-carbon building materials, particularly wood (SDG 12), and supporting local sustainable recreational activities (SDG 13).

Key stakeholders express their enthusiasm for Villa Nordisk and its significance. Erik J. Moller, Owner of Nordisk, enthuses, "At Nordisk, we believe that spending time in nature improves our quality of life. We have tried to build a house that is well designed, modern, digital, and respectful of nature. We think we have succeeded. So, come and try out our new Villa Nordisk, get outside, and enjoy nature."

Hironobu Washizaki, President and Representative Director of Nordisk Japan Co., Ltd., shares their vision, stating, "As Nordisk Japan aims to promote Hygge in Japan, we believe that we can offer you a Hygge experience by building a Nordisk campsite designed by a famous Danish architect in Japan.

We are very pleased to open 'Villa Nordisk,' an experience-type accommodation showroom utilizing IT technology, with the cooperation of various companies and people in Denmark and Japan."

Masaki Takekawa, Representative Director of Fumotoppara Co., Ltd., emphasizes the importance of preserving the local environment, stating, "The significance of working with Nordisk is great from the perspective of valuing local products and natural scenery. We are committed to the Fumoto area's landscape above all else. We invite you to taste and enjoy the variety of local foods and activities."

Reservations for Villa Nordisk will be open to "Club Nordisk" members starting in early July 2022. Further details will be communicated directly to members. As the facility becomes available to the public, it promises an unforgettable experience that seamlessly blends nature, technology, and luxury.
