Sirius® exp -35° sleeping bag

Built with expert users

Developed with current and former members of the Sirius Dog Sled Patrol, drawing on their experience of Arctic expeditions.

360° equal-fill insulation

Equal down filling on the top and underside provides insulation around the body as you change sleeping position.

Filled and finished in germany

Individually filled, finished and quality-controlled at Nordisk’s own manufactory in Görlitz, Germany.

The origin

Start with the people who sleep there

In Arctic conditions, the smallest adjustment can become a daily challenge. Reaching for equipment, closing a collar or finding the right drawcord has to work with cold hands and limited light.

During development, Sirius Patrol users helped Nordisk identify these practical needs. Their input shaped the arm openings, pocket placement, hood closure and controls that can be recognised by touch.

Workshops and successive prototypes allowed those ideas to be tested and refined. The result is a sleeping bag designed around the routines of expedition life, as well as the hours spent asleep.

cold is a constant. so is this bag

EVERY DETAIL HAS A REASON

Access to equipment. Adjustment from inside the bag. Insulation around the body. Each detail addresses a practical need identified during development.

Adjustable hood

Adjustable from inside, with a frost guard visor and frost baffle around the opening.

Two-way centre zip

Easy access and ventilation, with insulated baffles and a jam guard for smooth operation.

Full-wrap thermal collar

Surrounds the shoulders to help retain warmth and limit draughts.

Dedicated arm openings

Handle equipment with your arms free while keeping your torso inside the insulated bag.

Sharkfin double footbox

A shaped, insulated footbox designed for warmth and comfort around your feet.

Tested in the field

Out of the workshop.            Into the cold.

A process of testing and refinement

Every journey informed what came next

Early field testing

NORWAY:

Former Sirius Patrol member Erik B. Jørgensen took an early prototype on a 21-day, 418-kilometre journey in northern Norway. His feedback informed the next stage of development.

Prototype refinement

NORWAY & SWITZERLAND:

Further prototypes underwent laboratory and field testing. Workshops and user feedback helped refine the hood, adjustments and access to the bag.

Extended use

FINLAND & GREENLAND:

Later field testing and expedition use took SIRIUS EXP into Finnish Lapland and Northeast Greenland, adding experience from extended journeys in ice and snow.

Made for the long haul

Expertise you can keep returning to

SIRIUS EXP is filled, finished and individually quality-controlled at Nordisk’s own manufactory in Görlitz, Germany.

That expertise continues after the bag leaves the filling table. Nordisk’s Care & Repair team offers specialist washing, refilling and repairs to help maintain down products through years of use.

Care is part of preparing the bag for its next journey.

THE THINKING BEHIND THE TENT

Built around life in camp

Rest, equipment and preparation all need room. SIRIUS 4 EXP has an inner tent for four extra-wide sleeping mats, two vestibules and five entrances, giving the team flexibility around camp.

Its SilPoly flysheet stays taut when wet. DAC aluminium poles and Nordisk’s Power Guy-Out System support the structure, while ventilation options allow adjustment to changing weather.

Scandinavian Outdoor Award

True Scandinavia Award winner

SIRIUS 4 EXP received the True Scandinavia Award for Spring/Summer 2027, ahead of its planned launch.

After testing in Trentino, Italy, the jury highlighted the tent’s versatility, interior space and ventilation. The award recognises how these features work together in a shelter for year-round use.
