Article: NORDISK RECEIVES THE EUROPEAN OUTDOOR AWARD FOR TYGE -5

NORDISK has been awarded a European Outdoor Award for TYGE -5. The award is decided by a jury of outdoor experts and professional outdoor journalists, who assess products based on material innovation, functionality, performance in use and overall execution. Only the highest-scoring products across categories receive this distinction.

The European Outdoor Award places a strong focus on products that deliver clear, practical value in outdoor use. The jury’s evaluation prioritises material choices, construction quality and functional coherence, rewarding products where every element serves a defined purpose.
TYGE -5 is a down sleeping bag that is as much about process and provenance as it is about warmth as it shows how far performance and responsibility can be pushed at the same time, without either feeling compromised.

The shell and lining are made from 100 percent plant-based nylon. While technically a synthetic fibre, the nylon is derived from plant-based oils rather than conventional petrochemical sources. The fabric is soft, supple and pleasant to the touch, immediately conveying that this is not a standard nylon material, but a whole new textile developed with a different intention and feel.
Colouration of TYGE is achieved using 100 percent natural dyes derived from Hokkaido onion skins. This process produces subtle variations, depth and tonal richness that are close to impossible to replicate with synthetic pigments. The resulting colours feel organic and nuanced, reflecting the origin of the materials rather than a uniform industrial finish.
Insulation is provided by our new Crystal Down® Single Farm Edition, a unique down blend sourced from one eco farm in Denmark. This single-origin approach ensures fully certified transparency in sourcing and processing, while accepting the natural limits of availability that come with working at this level of material control.

Together, these elements form a sleeping bag where material choices are not decorative, but fundamental to both performance and identity. The jury recognised TYGE -5 for its disciplined execution, clear material logic and uncompromising approach to product development.

At NORDISK, we are proud of this recognition which underlines our design philosophy: creating outdoor equipment where performance, material responsibility and simplicity work together without compromise.
